Sheer Stupidity

There has been an uproar over the new health care bill from the left and right. On the left, it was that the health bill didn’t go far enough and became a give-a-away to the insurance industry. On the right, it has been nothing short of sheer stupidity.

There isn’t a better example of sheer stupidity than this:

First there was Dr. Cassell firing patients. Then there’s “dermdoc” bragging on a message board that he has just laid off his first Obama-voting employee. From CBS News’ Political Hotsheet:

Last Friday, someone going by the name “dermdoc” posted a thread on a message board for Texas A&M students and alumni with this topic: “Laid off my first Obama voting employee today.”

“Our reimbursement rates are spiraling downward, taxes are projected to go up with Obamacare, so I did it,” the person wrote. He later added: “I made this decision because I can.”

“It is kind of interesting watching their face as you explain to them the economic consequences of the policies of the guy they voted for,” wrote dermdoc.

The original message board thread has now been removed, but that didn’t deter “dermdoc” from expanding on his original thesis.

“Elections have consequences,” wrote dermdoc. “If you vote for someone who raises my taxes and lowers my income, you pay the cost.”

“My office manager and med business guru have calculated that this is just the beginning. Tax rates are going to go through the roof with additional Obamacare taxes AND the expiration of the Bush tax cuts,” he added. “And most analysts think reimbursement rates for docs will go down about 20-25% the next 2 years, and that is BEFORE Obamacare really kicks in.”

And, we then learn, that this was all just a case of the person being an idiot…

1 Dead president flown home to grief-stricken Poland

by Maja Czarnecka, AFP

Sun Apr 11, 9:44 am ET

WARSAW (AFP) – The body of Poland’s late president arrived back home Sunday as his stunned nation mourned the loss of much of its elite in a jet crash in Russia that investigators said was not due to technical faults.

Draped in a red and white Polish flag, the coffin bearing Lech Kaczynski was carried onto a red carpet at Warsaw Airport, where it was met by his identical twin brother Jaroslaw, a former premier, and a presidential guard of honour.

Before his body was flown home, Poles observed a two-minute silence on the stroke of midday, which was marked by the wailing of sirens.

An Ant’s Rant

The Ant and the Grasshopper Fable

An Aesop’s Fable

In a field one summer’s day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart’s content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

“Why not come and chat with me,” said the Grasshopper, “instead of toiling and moiling in that way?”

“I am helping to lay up food for the winter,” said the Ant, “and recommend you to do the same.”

“Why bother about winter?” said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present.” But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.

Then the Grasshopper knew:

Defense of the Realm:

This report about the Brits and their long history of military service and history, and want to dominate others in many cases, is a mirror into our own National Security and National Defense as these two occupations have stretched beyond the limits many issues connected to both.

We gave those that developed the hatreds from our long running World Policies towards them exactly what they wanted, that’s Guerrilla Insurgency, only on a world scale and fought with criminal terror from all involved.

Clean Coal; Bloody Hands

Mine Explosion Survivor Interview

Citizens heard the news.  In West Virginia, twenty-five people perished.  Hard-working miners left their homes and loved ones, never to return again.  Upper Big Branch, a colliery owned and operated by the Massey Energy Company exploded from within.  The cavern, filled with gas, was often thought to be a death trap.  Family, friends, and familiars knew this, as did government officials.  Actually, any American who cares to be cognizant of the countless considerations associated with coal mining could have predicted what occurred only days ago.  Yet, most choose not to think of their own culpability in the most recent deaths.  Nor do our countrymen and women contemplate the constant infirmity and harm they do to our fellow humans.  We are busy.

Iron Fist Democrats

“They’re trying to kill me,” Yossarian told him calmly.

“No one’s trying to kill you,” Clevinger cried.

“Then why are they shooting at me?  Yossarian asked.

“They’re shooting at everyone,” Clevinger answered.  “They’re trying to kill everyone.”

“And what difference does that make?”

          — Catch-22

When I was out in San Francisco fighting the good fight in the 70’s, I was repeatedly told by reputable Democratic Party figures that the Democratic Party did not exist.  We tenant activists tried to strengthen the wording of a Rent Control initiative, and we were smashed.  Successful campaign events were met with rage.  We tried to create grassroots committees in the working class districts, and they were destroyed.  The Democratic clubs, ILWU Local 6 (a CP union) and Local 2 of the Hotel Workers union, all joined in.  They preferred to destroy the campaign to keep us in check.  No Democratic Party my ass, the iron fist was plainly revealed.

From time to time over the years, I’ve wondered what their investment was in the non-existence of the Democratic Party.  Lately, it’s been starting to make more sense.

1 Polish president and elite killed in plane crash

by Marina Sokolova and Maxim Malinovsky, AFP

2 hrs 13 mins ago

SMOLENSK, Russia (AFP) – A Soviet-era jet carrying Polish president Lech Kaczynski and much of the military and state elite crashed in thick fog in Russia on Saturday killing all 96 people on board in a blazing inferno.

The Tupolev Tu-154 was taking Kaczynski and his wife, the military chief of staff and other top officers, central bank governor, deputy foreign minister, members of parliament and other senior officials to a memorial ceremony for thousands of Polish troops massacred by Russian forces in World War II.

The jet hit treetops in fog as it approached the runway at Smolensk airport in western Russia and broke up in flames, regional governor Sergei Antufiev said.
