I’d rather be with you

The last few months have been very emotional personally.  Waiting to see if I’m going to lose my home, get a day gig, lose the UI, maybe having the music career start back up, and watching my dog get old enough to have to make that final decision, it’s been a roller coaster.

Add to that emotional baggage is the final straw for me with democrats, Obama, and last but not least, the GOS,all coming together last week in a craptastic display of hypocrisy, skullduggery, tomfoolery, and plain stupidity.

I’ve decided I’d rather be with you.

Making Billions{?} on Health, Yet Sources Of Not Compensated!

This was on the CBS Sunday Morning show yesterday and still has me boiling!

You want to talk “Health Care” and the millions being spent by the special interests, and their lackeys seeking more as they say “No”, that profit mightily from the ever rising costs by anything related to those two words, “Health Care” and the industry it is.

I’m going to start this off with a cut from the report, video not up:

And consider this: The family of the woman whose cells changed medical history . . . can’t afford health insurance.

Henrietta’s middle child, Sonny, is $100,000 in debt after bypass surgery.

“How does that leave you feeling?” asked Axelrod.

Dear Brother Joe…

On the Limits of Tax-Exempt Status

Some of you know that a few weeks ago my hubby and I flew out to Oklahoma to help get Mom-in-law moved into assisted living due to some issues with failing eyesight, short-term memory non-existence and refusal to use a walker (resulting in her falling down a lot). Hubby’s family were lifelong Presbyterians by faith, his Mom and Dad were both Elders in the tiny church behind their house. My Dad returned to his family’s association with the Presbyterian church after retiring from the Navy, following some lengthy investigation of various denominations. My husband and I attended the same Presbyterian church as teenagers and young adults, though our attendance at any church over recent years has been reserved to weddings and funerals.

Now, the thing about protestantism is that it’s got a denomination for whatever flavor of natural inclination a person’s got. If your nature is parliamentarian nit-picking and resolution by argument, Presbyterianism is your cup of tea. If your nature is lightning-like bliss and gibberish, a Pentecostal or other “holy roller” denomination will serve. If you’re a liberal-minded type fond of social issues, some of the reformed orthodox denominations will be satisfying. And if you’re a hard right WingNut type Republican Talibangelist harboring too much leftover racism, the SBC [Southern Baptist Conference] churches are made to order.

My husband’s brother Joe “found God” some years ago as a result of a debilitating back injury and a lot of pain, subsequently immersed himself in the Baptist tradition of his wife’s family, and eventually made it through all the hoops to become a full-fledged Baptist preacher. And he’s a darned good one too – full of spirit, witty and amiable, stern when he needs to be, committed to working tirelessly in the various conference disaster relief operations, great with children, and inspiring if you’re into that sort of thing. He’s also the only Republican in the family and a social conservative of the extreme theocratic variety.

1 Sarkozy party grapples with French vote setback

by Roland Lloyd Parry, AFP

1 hr 31 mins ago

PARIS (AFP) – President Nicolas Sarkozy’s party fought on Monday to recover from a first-round beating by opposition Socialists in French regional elections that also saw the far-right National Front surge back.

Final results showed the Socialists set to crush Sarkozy’s governing UMP party in Sunday’s second-round polls — the last major ballot before the 2012 presidential vote.

In a vote seen as a key test of Sarkozy’s popularity, the Socialists picked up 29.5 percent in the first round in the 22 regions, ahead of the UMP with 26.3 percent, the interior ministry said.

Words Mean Things: Fascism

Along with “socialism”, “fascism” has become one of the right-wing’s favorite scare word to describe President Obama.

They use the word fascism with an assortment of other scary adjectives. For instance, we have “liberal fascist”, “fascist socialist”, “socialist fascist”, “socialist/fascist/communist”, and my personal favorite, “national socialist fascist communist”.

According to one unscientific, online poll, 91% of conservatives were lumping Obama in with “Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin”.

The problem for the right-wing is their complete and total ignorance of not only the meaning of the word “fascism”, but also of the history surrounding this political and economic movement.

Obama forced to pay attention to Dennis Kucinich

Well..well.well.  Guess who Barack Obama is finally paying attention to? Congressman Dennis Kucinich. Only not necessarily in a good way.

First, Obama chose the State of Ohio as his staged photo-op site for his last public Health Care Rally (apart from D.C. speeches), and guess who was onboard Air-Force 1?  Dennis Kucinich. I’ll bet Kucinich hasn’t even been invited on Air Force 1 perhaps more than 2 or 3 times in his entire career.

But, then Obama put a plant in the audience to yell out “Vote Yes” right on cue, when Obama called out Congressman Kucinich’s name.

The goal was to make it appear that RahmobombaMonopolyCare is just so overwhelmingly popular with the little people that Kucinich would have no choice but to drop his principled objections to the Corporate bailout bill, or otherwise face mutiny by his own district, and by his own supporters.

Well done bit of stage craft by Obama (he’s slick), but the fact remains that progressives do not like this shabby excuse for “reform”, once they are told what is in it (IRS forced mandates and enslavement to the Insurance Monopoly), and what is not going to be in it (cost control, competition, medicare expansion, public choice).

For Your Consideration: Attacking Back

Jane Hamsher, again, says it quite eloquently when she calls out MoveOn.org for attacking Dennis Kucinich for sticking with his promise to not vote for a HCR bill that did not have a Public Option. Rep. Kucinich is being attack by the so-called “liberal” blogosphere that has now veered fo far right that it is unrecognizable to true progressives like Ms. Hamsher.

Last August, progressive groups including MoveOn, DFA and blogs across the country came together to raise over $430,000 for 65 members of Congress who pledged to vote against any health care bill that doesn’t have a public option.

Now every excuse made by the President and Congress for not including a public option has crumbled. MoveOn is against Kucinich for keeping that promise, and far from supporting members of Congress who keep that pledge, the unions are them with primaries.

If George Bush had tried to pass a health care bill that was the worst blow to the right to choose since the passage of the Hyde Amendment 35 years ago, liberal groups would be screaming bloody murder.

Do Or Die!

Our backs are against the wall. They laugh in our faces. They spit on our lives. They strip us of our dignity and scare us into servitude.

They break every promise. They lie through their teeth. They hate, they scorn and ridicule anyone not like them; rich, privileged, pampered and entitled. They claim to speak for us and represent us and work for our common good. But it is all the smoke and mirrors of backroom deals and pacts with the devil.

They have stolen our birthright and murdered our future. They have robbed us deaf, dumb and blind. They have left us for dead by the side of the road after they’ve trampled us with limos and battle-tanks. They have sucked us dry down to the marrow and demand we grind our bones into to dust to make potions, elixirs and brews to finance their eternal life of egregious vainglory.

They have taken freedom of choice and turned it into do or die. The last choice.

What will we do?

I Want These Prayers

The ABA Journal (the American Bar Association Journal) brightens my day with this item:

The Christian law firm Liberty Counsel is selling “Adopt a Liberal” playing cards designed to harness the power of prayer to restore “poor leaders to right thinking.”

For $20, liberal detractors can buy the playing cards, featuring 51 liberals and an “unknown” liberal card that can represent their liberal of choice, the Washington Post reports. The cards come with instructions that say: “We encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance on how to pray for your liberal(s), always allowing God to temper your prayer with his love and mercy.”

A press release on the playing cards features a trademark designation after the “Adopt a Liberal” name.

I am respectfully soliciting designation as the “‘unknown’ liberal” in everyone’s deck.  Obviously I’m not famous enough (yet) to have my own card.  According to the WaPo, those who are famous enough to be on the cards include Barbara Boxer, DiFi, Ahnold, Pelosi, Oprah, Hillary, and Michael Bloomberg.  Also, Al Gore (surprise!), Arianna, Bill Maher.  And Arlan Spector.  Sadly, I’m just not that famous, but, and this is a very, very important but, I am far, far more liberal than most all of those listed.

Here’s how to order.

Place your hands upon that keyboard and send those prayers my way.  I will appreciate them.  I promise.

Fighting For The People (Literally)

(Cross-posted from The Free Speech Zone)

A little unknown fact about me is that I fight, literally.

Not in a macho way but rather, in the same way a person hops on a treadmill or goes jogging.
