Bush-Obama: Separated At Birth?

MISSING IN ACTION! Ram-Obama wants you to you know that Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama Actually Wanted to Join the US Military, But There Wasn’t a War To Fight.  At least, that’s what Barack wanted to do, according to the One. Barack explains that what held back this terrible Dem tiger was an unfortunate lack of blood and gunfire.

“The Vietnam War had come to an end. We weren’t engaged in an active military conflict at that point. And so, it’s not an option that I ever decided to pursue.”

Waaaa…!! Damn that Viet-Nam ceasefire!! The Telegraph notes Barack omitted any previous mention of this deeply-held desire to join the US military. Nothing appears in any interview or publication. Memory loss? Scouring the formative years of his own past, Obama writes nothing about considering a military career, or any form of military service, in either of his two celebrity self-profiles.

Dems savaged Dick Cheney for masquerading as a patriot while doing everything possible to avoid suiting up. And why not? Called to duty five times, college student Dick Cheney received five separate dispensations from Selective Services, thus denying the would-be warrior the chance to guard America’s future.

Grandpa Biden Has His Own Pain to Deal With: Five Deferments. Just like Dick, Biden, the ‘bare-knuckle’ Dem Vice-Presidential candidate was ‘denied’ the right to serve five times. The silver-maned patriot waged a different kind of war, waddling through mountains of Congressional pork, waging war on drugs, and shrieking about morality.

George W. Bush stands head and shoulders above this crowd. It’s that bad. What with Barack’s crap about the ‘route-march’ not traveled and Biden-Cheney’s identical five deferments, Dubya, who actually made it into a recruiting center and into uniform, is positively heroic.

Barack, Bush both claim to have considered’ going to Viet Nam. Barack-Dubya both use exactly the same excuse to to ‘explain’ why staying home seemed a wiser path. With Viet Nam ending, Barack-Bush would have no chance of shedding blood for country.

Damn! Now it all makes sense. Obama wanted to wear the uniform! It’s so easy to picture Rambo-Obama on the roof-top of the US Embassy protecting the last helicopter out. True! Pesky peace kept the youthful patriot from achieving his high-school dream of serving Uncle Sam. If only Nixon had kept the war going until Obama had a chance to suit up! Totally believable. The One simply forgot to tell anyone of his secret ambition to head into combat!

Dubya-Barack are as patriotic as every other American. Both served in elite Ivy League schools, ‘toughing it out’ on term papers and all-night cram sessions before going on to pursue individual national political ambitions.

And the Dubya-Obama similarities don’t end there. Obama now claims the Bush tax-breaks for the rich are necessary.

My Sculptural Gift to the GOP (Part 1)

Thanks to nightprowlkitty for telling me about this very cool site. I’m pleased to meet you all and to share my current project. I’m a fine artist working primarily in mixed media sculpture right now. I’m about to have my first solo show of extremely political artwork. I’ve been pre-exhibiting the work online because most folks won’t have a chance to see the work in person. I’m happy to share it with you on nightprowlkitty’s suggestion. Here is the first installment:

Cross Posted at Elephant in the Room (Go there for larger views of images if you wish.)

I’m an artist first and a political blogger second. Sometimes, especially in the past eight years (youknowwhy) I’ve had to put my art second, behind my activism, which I don’t like to do. Other times having art-making as an expressive outlet has probably kept my head from exploding. Like you poll wonks, and policy writers I’m using my personal skills to help win our country back. Art is a less represented method of activism here on DailyKos but there are many artists among our community.

I’d like to share with you the first in a series of sculptures I’ve been working on since 2003. The actual artwork will be on exhibit in October (near one of the nation’s largest Marine bases) but since most of you won’t be able to get to Joshua Tree, CA to see it, I’m sharing it online now. I’m hoping it will help change votes, minds, hearts, and inspire progressive action and CHANGE/HOPE/PROGRESS!

Meet the Luddites!

Mention the term “Luddite” to most folks nowadays, and it’ll conjure up images of John McCain types – elderly folks still mystified by the electric typewriter, with “12:00” blinking perpetually on their VCRs – or the hard-core back-to-the-Earth sorts, who bristle at any device with moving parts.  As usual, the actual history is far more complex: these “frame-breakers” of early 19th-century England were not a variant on Amish farmers given over to vandalism, but rather the product of a complicated confluence of occurrences involving everything from newfangled labor-saving machines to the Napoleonic Wars.

Join me, if you will, in the Cave of the Moonbat, where tonight we’ll take a look inside the changing marketplace at the dawn of the 1800s – and at a group of folks who tried to plow the sea by attempting to arrest the flow of history.

Goodbye

It does appear that personal costs to me and the ones I love are pushing me in the direction of ending the internet persona Lasthorseman in this and other internet venues.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/i…

Study it, hell make it part of your daily news sites, far better than the color of Sarah’s underwear ain’t it.

More on this may be forthcoming IF the world does not end AND I have the means to access the internet.  I thank those who love me and those who think I am a raving loon for both have contributed equally to my internet learning experience.  I have shared my life with this ugly world far too much and the ruination of this used to be middle class American puts me in survivalist John Rambo “you drew first blood” mode.  Don’t worry I’m not “going postal”, some may not even know what that means.  One can’t shoot the Illuminati just as one can’t educate the mouth breathers who point to Austrailia and say we should attack Iran next.

In a hundred languages and a hundred different ways keep me from the Apocalyptic horse.  Carry on for each of you who care about the lives of others are in fact Knights.  I regret however not cataloging the influence of the negative Veils and all.

You may discount all of the mumbo jumbo about the specifics but embrace the concept of the levels people attain in life.  It is a concept as old as Plato and his Allegory of the Cave.  Yeah well sure I see things differently but in today’s society I’ll pass on the medication.

My personal D-Day is but hours away.  I have closed my modest above ground suburban pool cleaning up and putting away my grandson’s green mutant ninja turtle floaties.  I hear his two year old haunting voice “Grampy pool,,Grampy pool” yet I see darkness in these mechanical motions of summer’s end.  I shall not open this oasis of fun again.  How do I sense this?  Well it is the same psychic intuition that takes me back when viewing the staff pictures of John Yoo, Alberto Gonzales and Leo Strauss.  It is that shocking Oh my God, these fuckwads really are minions of Satan, I can’t really describe the impressions, impressions merely from a picture.  This is a gift?

Now if I recover from all this and post some stuff on say Friday of next week it means the collective well wishing (you meditating monks) will have countered the forces of evil and we can all get back to normal, if not they, them them, will have historized another voice.

The final thought here.  Why does “diversity” never include age into the corporate Kumbaya mix of the total equation.  Years of service presumably doing excellent constructive things could generate a record of success/failure of said company’s endeavors thus revealing the true intentions of said company.

Really people should I write the book or take my lithium.  Sorry to dump upon you with my troubles as in the true American tradition I strive to be self sufficient and mind my own business.  Such is not the case today.

I Need Your Help: My Letter to Guantanamo’s Convening Authority

The following letter has been faxed to the defense counsel of Mohammad Jawad, currently due to stand trial as part of the military tribunal process at Guantanamo. A juvenile when arrested in Afghanistan, Jawad’s likely innocence, and his abuse at the hands of both Afghan and U.S. captors has been well documented. His attorney, Major David Frakt, is asking interested individuals and organizations to write similar letters on his client’s behalf.

There is also a petition covering the primary details of the case, and asking for withdrawal and dismissal of charges against the former teenage combatant. I urgently ask my readers to at least consider signing the petition. A great wrong can be undone, if you help and take action.

Who would you vote for if you could pick from all of the presidential candidates running?

http://www.misterpoll.com/poll…

This poll allows you to choose from all of the presidential candidates running, instead of just the two major political party candidates.  What’s more, you can vote for more than one option, sort of like instant runoff.  Discuss who you picked and why in the comments section.

Update, SE LA Native Americans: Why Don’t We Matter?

Cross posting from Kos again…

Why hasn’t something been done sooner to protect our community? Is it because the Island is a poor Indian community so it doesn’t matter what happens to us? Brenda Dardar Robichaux, tribal leader of the United Houma Nation

Things are pretty grim in the region–literally a place and a people that America has forgotten–flood and wind damage has devastated many areas that had survived previous storms.  The anger in the tribal leaders’ words can be seen below.

See my previous diaries here, here and here.

First off, according to the Houma newspapers, power is slowly being restored to the hospitals and main services.  Many areas remain without and are running on generators if they have them.  These come with dangers as the Terrebonne Courthouse experienced a fire from a malfunctioning unit.  The region is still under a boil water order.  Most of the major roads are cleared, but many side roads are untouched.  No streetlights work.  Some grocery stores are open, but relief supplies are still being distributed at points around the region.   A lot of the schools will remain closed due to electricity and roof damage.  Looks like they are hoping to reopen sometime late next week.

Palin Pays Off Sexual Harasser

Like a ripple in a pond, the troopergate scandal gave birth to the sexual harassment scandal, which is more of a blip on the megamedia radar screen.  Troopergate focuses on whether Palin fired a state commissioner for not firing a state trooper, who just happened to be divorcing her sister. Within days of firing the state commissioner, Palin replaced him with a fellow fundie who had been officially reprimanded for sexual harassment a few years earlier when he was a city police chief. While the national media went on vacation, Alaska media wanted to know why she appointed a known sexual harasser. A local “media firestorm” culminated in his resignation two weeks later — and a $10,000 exit “bonus.”  The local media coverage also revealed how Palin was a quick study of the Bush/Cheney school of executive spin and illustrated how Palin is the right-wing’s new “feminist” darling by gender only.
