Vacation

“What time is it?”

Don’t know, don’t care, it’s a cool sunny day which means it’s time to collect wood for the campfire.  I am the fireman, Steve is our cook and last night I led our group on the most up close and personal moose hunt ever.  Two bull moose less  Moose, majestic moutains, stars at night, the breathing of air which does not smell like a cesspool.

What day is it?

Well, I kind of lost track of that too, but it felt so, so good.

A collection of family members in the woods totally enjoying themselves for two weeks.  A spiritual counter to those assholes on the west coast  in Sonoma doing their cremation of care ceremony.

Doing things together as a small community to survive and have fun brings about another viewpoint

Friday Night at 8: Jazz and Such

Miss Sarah Vaughn (“I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” featuring a young Bob James (Fourplay) on piano with Larry Rockwell, bass and Omar Clay, drums; courtesy of YouTuber pixaninny)

and Miss Sarah Vaughn (“Perdito” circa 1955 musicians unknown, courtesy of YouTuber JazzVideoGuy)

See I like to sing harmony, that’s my favorite, even in choir in school I loved the vibrations I’d feel when singing with a big group of voices and we’re all singing different parts and it comes together as one sound, that’s a rush.

Pony Party

Everywhere is freaks and hairies

Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity

Tax the rich, feed the poor

Till there are no rich no more

Id love to change the world

But I dont know what to do

So Ill leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding

Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy

Life is funny, skies are sunny

Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly

Id love to change the world

But I dont know what to do

So Ill leave it up to you

World pollution, theres no solution

Institution, electrocution

Just black and white, rich or poor

Them and us, stop the war

Id love to change the world

But I dont know what to do

So Ill leave it up to you

Here’s a great interview from yesterday in which Naomi Klein debunks Bush’s offshore drilling plan on Fox Business News’ Happy Hour Program. July 17, 2008

Telling like it is.

More, after the fold.

Friday Philosophy: Issues and Coalition Building

There are so many ills tainting our world.  People’s inhumanity towards one another expresses itself in so many different ways.

Pick one.  Work on it.  Make it your Cause.  Commit the rest of your life to it.  Commit to bring it to an end.  Do anything you can to advance that issue, including working on other issues…so that maybe when the time comes someone might have learned enough about you and your issues that they might actually care about them as well as their own.

What?  What was that last part?  Work on other people’s issues?  Why would anyone ever do that?  Isn’t that, like, a colossal waste of time and effort?

Actually, no.  It’s how something…anything…gets accomplished.

Down here at the bottom of the issue food chain, the only way anyone is going to notice us is if we push other people forward, people who are and issues which are obscuring our existence.
