News Flash: SMU Bush Presidential Library Rejection, passed 844-20

This rejection passed on Wednesday morning, 30-April-08, at the quadrennial General Conference of the United Methodist Church that is still meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

This body is the highest authority of the denomination and cannot be over-ruled by any other body within the denomination.

Now, what with all the furor over another pastor in another denomination, this is ‘good news’ from the Methodist front!  We should, if we support the decision, send letters and e-mails of support to the Methodists.  I’d even go so far as to say it might be worth finding some time on a Sunday to visit one of their congregations (If you don’t find going to church on Sunday offensive).

Go Methodists!

SMU will not be sullied!

Is the Pony/Pie/Hide rating system too cutsie?

  1. This probably isn’t the final word, but it should carry some weight!

  2. a moment that doesn’t make this native Texan cringe!  Of course, I’m sure it was led by outsiders.  Since none of W’s putative education took place in Texas it is only natural that his library should find a better home.  Anywhere but Texas.  It might be hard to find a place but maybe that RubberStamp School of Law the W administration is so fond of might be likely.

  3. because i cant foresee another opportunity to ever do so…

congress could learn a thing or two from the methodists

    wow, that felt weird.

  4. that the Rev. Wright has attending his church????

Hmmmm. I guess it only counts if you are relatively small-time compared to the larger numbers of Dobson, Haggee, Roertson, et al….
