Banner Contest….Time to Vote!

Thanks to some wonderful, creative Dharmisians, we now have FOUR (technically, 3 1/2)very high quality banners to choose from, with more still in development. With so many great entries, we have decided to have a rotating banner, each with a variation on the elements included in the Mother of All Banners, OPOL’s brilliant original. (which is included in the four, of course!) Each is distinctive and beautiful and makes a powerful statement. Today is your chance to settle the only real question left. Which one to put up first! Your choice today are between these two.

News Corpse’s fine entry:

And our latest entry, from Edger:

The other banner that will go into rotation is from Zwoof:

But since he is in China, and it takes much longer for the tennis balls to roll all the way there and back…

We haven’t yet received his final version.

.

But this does NOT mean that the contest is over!
We would simply LOVE to have YOUR version/vision sitting on top of the site for all to see too! Several folks came up with some great stuff (see here) that just needs to be developed further.

So if you would like to create and submit a banner, here are the rough, non binding guidelines. We like eyes! We like the font! We like these colors!

Photobucket

Buddha gold (#E8B34B), light Buddha gold (#FADA91), royal blue (#0066CC),  dark blue (#233678), maroon (#A31A21) (l-r).

That being said…if you knock our sox off with something that doesn’t use those elements…that will be great! So go for it! And if you don’t see another Banner Contest soon, you can mail your entries to admin@docudharma.com.

On to the voting! And in the next few days…or so…you will see a new banner hanging above the site, yipree!

Is the Pony/Pie/Hide rating system too cutsie?

howevaa, I think the eyes would look better on top of “Docudharma” and larger (logo) like News Corpse’s.

I like News Corpse entry too, but the “docudharma-eyes” should be used.

So in effect a combo of the two, really….how’s that for indecision?

    banner might provide some relief.

time to retire it and give someone else a shot (IMO).

  3. … because I think the ripple effect is so evident on this site.

But I agree it needs some work … with the eyes, maybe … not sure, as I am not a visual artist.

But that ripple, yeah … good metaphor for this joint.

It fits how I feel right lately.  I like them all so I definitely think rotation is a good idea.

  5. …all of them have cool elements.  Unforunately while I like News Corpses’ planet, the eyes in conjunction made me think of the classic science fiction trope where the young adventurer is running out of air and seeing their reflecting, doomed gaze in the helmet glass…

  6. Edgar’s ripples are fascinating.

  7. I like Edger`s conjoining thought galaxies. A merging of minds in ever widening concentric wisdom.

  8. Just like

  9. I slacked. My apologies. I will go back and tinker with mine shortly…

  10. I like the 2001 earth with the light peeking from beyond(news Corpse) but I also am partial to the concentric, interlocking circles in the water….plus I like the outer space deal with stars and the earth….Well. I really can’t decide today. Maybe tomorrow.

  11. “All of the above” I think that is the way most of us would have voted.

That being said, the decision to have all of the banners

(including OPOL’s excellent one) in rotation is a wonderful

idea.  It shows what great talent we have here as well as

showing that we are ever evolving.

  12. Zwoof!

  13. What a visionary artist. And the eyes are my favorite part.

Oops. I forgot to switch to my sock puppet login. How embarrassing.

  14. Edger’s banner. The intersection of ripples just makes sense to me.
