It’s official! Dennis to introduce an impeachment resolution for W on Jan. 28! w/poll

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

Dennis Kucinich, the only presidential candidate to support the impeachment of Richard Cheney, has made it official on the floor of the House!  Perhaps W will talke about it during his State of the Union Speech later that evening!

Via the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Cleveland Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich created a stink on the House of Representatives floor Wednesday when he announced he’ll introduce a measure to impeach President Bush when Bush delivers his final State of the Union address Jan. 28.

“We already know the State of the Union,” said Kucinich, whose earlier effort to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney has languished in the House Judiciary Committee because of opposition from Democratic leaders. “It’s a lie.”

I ask you, when will any of the other candidates on the Democratic Party be willing to stand up and say about the state of the union that “It’s a lie.”  Yes, it’s blunt.  But we also know it’s true.

Republicans objected to Kucinich’s statements, and the congressman returned to the floor a few minutes later to withdraw his “offending words.” Florida GOP Rep. Cliff Stearns called his remarks a “clear and egregious violation of House rules” and scolded Kucinich for ut tering “personal ac cusations” against Bush and Cheney.

If you haven’t seen it:

Dennis is willing to stand for the Constitution!  With the New Hampshire recount he’s paid for, Dennis has shown that he is willing to stand for the voters of the US!  It’s called leadership!

And in case you forget where your candidate stands on impeachment:

And if you wonder why he’s being kept off the stage during the debates:

Do you support impeachment?  Do you support Single Payer?  Do you support getting out of Iraq now?

If you do, go to Dennis’ campaign site.  You can read his positions on the issues, join his volunteer team through his action page, and you can donate to his campaign.

Dennis Kucinich: It’s called leadership!

As always, now more than ever,

Go Dennis!

Vote your conscience, choose peace!

I was waiting for this essay!

  2. This won’t make me any new friends, but … as much as I think Bush and Cheney deserve impeachment, it ain’t gonna happen. I wouldn’t mind seeing some hearings during the fall campaign, but I suspect that ain’t happening either.  This gets people excited, but in the end will turn out to be windmill-tilting.

I suppose the same could be said my own antiwar efforts, except that I believe the war will end.  I don’t believe those two war criminals will ever be impeached.

  3. We need to keep pushing Impeachment.  I know there’s plenty of reason to doubt it’s happening, but we still need to keep the pressure on and up.  It’s our duty, regardless.  And, well, maybe, it will ultimately mean something!

In the meantime, Kucinich has made an urgent appeal for funds, so that he may assure his continued efforts in Congress.

    an Urgent Personal Appeal

I want to thank you for your support of our efforts to end the war, to create a not-for-profit healthcare system and take America in a new direction, so that we can have a government we can truly call our own. In connection with that, as you know, I’m running for re-election to the United States Congress and I need your help to make sure that I stay in Congress.

Right now I’m under attack by corporate interests, most of them from the city of Cleveland, who have an agenda that has nothing to do with the people of my community, nor with most people in this country. And so what I’m asking you to do is to help me stay in Congress, so that I can continue to represent the people of my community, the state of Ohio and the United States of America.

I need you, right now, to go to that page on my website, where you can contribute online, or send a check or phone in a contribution.

I need you to contribute at least $100 to make sure that I can continue my work in the United States Congress. And if you can, to help me raise, with the help of your friends and relatives $1000. (If you contributed to the presidential campaign, you are permitted to contribute to this congressional campaign as it is a separate campaign. Even if you contributed $2300 to the presidential election you can still contribute up to $2300 to this campaign.)

If you can help us with this fundraising effort, I’ll be assured of a victory in the primary election which is only six weeks away. Already television commercials are flooding the Cleveland airwaves with a message that is designed to try to knock me out of office. I’ve served with honor and dignity in the United States House of Representatives. I’ve led the effort against the war. I stand for peace, for fair trade and for a not-for-profit healthcare system. And now I need you to make sure that I can continue this work.

Please contribute now. Help us now.

I cannot stress strongly enough, the importance of you responding immediately. We need to go on TV immediately to answer the kind of attacks that are occurring.

I want to thank you for the great support you’ve shown me over the years. But I can tell you that now more than ever your support is going to be essential so that I can continue our work in the United States Congress.

So please give at least $100 dollars if you’re able to, and help me raise at least $1000, if you’re able to. You can enable me to continue to stand up and speak out for the people of Cleveland whose concerns are so similar to the concerns of people all over this country.

My voice is your voice in the United States Congress. I appreciate the opportunity to be someone you can rely on in Congress. I stand up for the people 365 days-a-year, now I need you to take a stand for everything that we believe in.

    Thank you

    Dennis Kucinich

All I can say that if anybody at all deserves our support, it is Dennis Kucinich!

they struck so much of his statement from the Record – almost all of it, one can hardly tell what it was really about.

I guess they find the truth about how the President lied us into an illegal occupation more offensive than the lies and the illegal occupation.

I sent off my absentee CA ballot yesterday marked for Dennis Kucinich for president. I recommend others do the same.

the fact that it is being called for or even that hearings are begun would be significant. Maybe Jeff Gannon could bring a cigar then next time he visits?
