Japan Comes Out At Night

1. Opposition leader Ichiro Ozawa comes under fire for disappearing before a Lower House vote allowing the Maritime Self-Defense Force to resume its anti-terror refueling mission. He gives a speech for a candidate backed by his party, Minshuto, in the Osaka governor’s election. And he vows a change in government this year. He’ll likely show up if that happens. 2 hr, 8 min, 43 sec

Founded a University and then found himself in jail.

Perhaps if Tsuneo Nakajima had “Found” another use for his hands he wouldn’t be a guest in the Gray Bar Hotel.

Is New Hampshire really this stupid?!

Bev Harris has caused a lot of harm and dissension in the voting rights community, so much so that I long ago wrote her off as an agent provocateur or mentally ill. But this latest documentation of hers from New Hampshire is hard to ignore, so with some trepidation, here it is.

Notice at the very end an open box of “extra” SecState seals and notice how easily they are removed after being applied. That is Secretary of State, Bill Gardner in the video with the vacant look on his face.

What the fuck?!

BlackBoxVoting and Bev Harris’ photo essay on ballot boxes, transportation and storage.

“The Suffrage Was Become A Mere Machine”

Mark Twain, among his many other gifts, seems to have been something of a seer.

While perusing a collection titled The Bible According to Mark Twain (primarily devoted to excoriating the god of Abraham), I came across an unpublished piece of Twain’s, written in 1901, that seems to perfectly encapsulate the state of the nation, as we prepare to move from the reigns of George I, Clinton I, and George II, to that of Clinton II.

Twain’s text below the fold:

Dennis Kucinich: Integritynow.org! w/poll

Dennis Kucinich, in a speech today, dropped out of the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination.  He is going to concentrate on winning re-nomination and winning his congressional seat.

Dispatches From the Land of Lying Bastards

Don’t be distracted by the ‘circus’ as Nightprowlkitty put’s it.

The sad fact is that the Presidential campaign extravaganza is a fraudulent exercise staged for a gullible public.

Poetry – In Print & NOW WITH AUDIO, woo whoo

So this is Friday Night at 8.  And as our digital dictator would say “Here I Am!”

Wrote a poem and recorded it at Gabcast as well.  This one is also untitled.

Here’s the poem:

of course there’s

a big search for

a new language

for new times

maybe a kind of

esperanto of the soul

a word appears

here and there

but it is immediately

devoured  in

pacmans of

orgiastic

marketry

gibsonian wetware

epiphanies

as we merge

with our

great

machines

caravans of

digital wagons

carrying

strange new loads!

Avatars exploding

in infinite number

while wizards

laugh

over their

strange new

dominions.

And below is the gabcast thingy to click.

SOTU: THE BUTTON Part 2

Last night I placed a post here with this photo and the letter that accompanied THE BUTTON, and abit more.

A little refresher, THE BUTTON and the letter to the House and Senate members:

January 24, 2008

Dear Senator,

It is with great pleasure that I am able to present you with this limited edition “I am a Bush Republican” commemorative button on the occasion of President Bush’s final State of the Union Address. It would be a shame to let this event pass without a show of solidarity among those who have stood by him and enabled his legacy to be established on so many issues.

Without your steadfast support of President Bush’s domestic, foreign and economic policies, there is no doubt America would not be in the position it is in today. Please wear this button on Monday evening to show your constituents that you support President Bush, his policies and how proud you are of your contribution to his legacy.

Sincerely,

Brad Woodhouse

Friday Philosophy: Jump Shift?

Phase in.  Phase out.  Out of Phaze.

Phase shift.

Some people shift paradigms.  I shift points of view.  Sometimes I have felt forced to do so.  Sometimes I choose to do so intentionally.  Sometimes I have taken a chance at shifting willingly.

I’ve come to the fork in the road, so to speak.  (Insert Slauson Cutoff joke here)  Do I step on the transporter or not?  Do I scatter my atoms across the universe?

Mitosis?  Cytokinesis?  Meiosis?

Will these metaphors never cease?
