Kucinich ‘comes closest to embodying the ideals’ of The Nation

Progressive Democrats for American know it!  Democracy for America konws it!  The Readers of The Nation know it!  Dennis Kucinich is the candidate that represents their views, and each have voted for Dennis over the other Democratic Candidates!

Now, The Nation has editorialized what many already know, that Dennis Kucinich comes closest to embodying their ideals!

After a thorough evaluation of all the Democratic Presidential candidates, the editors of one of the country’s leading political publications, The Nation,  have concluded, “In his stands on the issues, Dennis Kucinich comes closest to embodying the ideals of this magazine.”

From The Nation.

Notice: Not Clinton, not Obama, not Edwards, not Biden, or Richardson, or Gravel or Dodd.  Dennis Kucinich!

The Nation’s editorial says what we all should know: “A vote for him would be a principled one.”

“He has been a forceful critic of the Bush administration, opposing the Patriot Act and spearheading the motion to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. He is the only candidate to have voted against the Iraq War in 2003 and has voted against funding it ever since. Of all the serious candidates, only he and Governor Bill Richardson propose a full and immediate withdrawal from Iraq. And only Kucinich’s plan sets aside funds for reparations. Moreover, Kucinich has used his presidential campaigns to champion issues like cutting the military budget and abolishing nuclear weapons; universal, single-payer healthcare; campaign finance reform; same-sex marriage and an end to the death penalty and the war on drugs.”

Indeed, The Nation looks at each of the leading Democratic candiates.  They state that there are points which each of the candidates should be lauded on, but that they have concerns on other points.

One of the ways which you can decide on which candidate to support is to look at their positions on various issues.  Dennis has a PDF Library where you can go look at his various positions on:

  1. Go Dennis!

    Choose Peace!

  2. Dennis is starting to get some real traction and press, even though he was snubbed in the Iowa situation (awful statement, isn’t it?).

    Longshot Kucinich

‘Long shot’ Kucinich scores 77% in independent poll

Independent vote a key factor in NH, 28 other states

Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich, who has been the runaway winner in polls of the Party’s progressive, grassroots base in recent weeks, scored a landslide win yesterday by capturing almost 77% of the vote in a nationwide poll sponsored by a coalition of Independent voting groups across the country.

Of the more than 80,000 votes cast for Democratic candidates at http://www.independentprimary.com by self-described independent voters, the Ohio Congressman received 61,477 – more than three times the combined total of all the other candidates. Former Senator John Edwards came in second with only 7,614 votes, or 9.5 percent. Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were third and fourth respectively.

This is great — hope we can get LOTS more exposure of him!

    Thanks, rjones2818!

  3. This is fabulous and the music is kewl as everything!

  4. on the Great Unwashed from the catechism of myths:

    From Kucinich’s own position papers:

    Genetically Engineered Food

Genetically engineered food (GEF) poses grave risks

Yes, indeed.  They threaten to feed the starving, deprive polluters of the use of irrigation, pesticides, herbicides, and even fertilizer.  They threaten to deprive Exxon and John Deere of some of their revenues.  The list is endless.  We might never get rid of winter that way.

I asked the CEO of a company that has licensed its technology for growing poplar trees faster and larger on marginal land about what the holdup might be on that.

I knew the answer, of course, but I had to ask anyway.

The native genes (not imported genes) might spread to poplar trees in the wild and they too could grow faster and larger.

Why they didn’t before since the genes are inherent in all plant and animal life is a puzzlement but who am I to question political biologists like Dennis Kucinich?

So then we could have forests filled  with monster poplars encroaching on barren lands and taking away more and more CO2 from the atmosphere so that the ice age might return.

    Frightening all right, Dennis.

Thank you so much for letting us know, rjones. 🙂

I had frankly never looked before but I had no doubt what I would find.  And what I found is the problem with ideologues of all stripes even when I find them in general agreement with most of what I favor myself.

One hope I hold dear is that the deeply conservative but very intelligent Obama will be able to see the light occasionally and not be the disaster that Hillary Clinton surely would be should she be elected.

I might in the end vote for Kucinich in the primary here in New York but it is hard for me to take down the line absolutist ideologues.  I prefer thoughtful people if I have my druthers.

    Best,  Terry
