Here's what you get if you go to CNN's website and search for "South Dakota    tribes  state of emergency   winter storms." Zero.

CNN Censors Emergency in Dakotas ONLINE ACTION FOR PINE RIDGE RESERVATION TODAY FROM AUTUMN TWOBULLS:

I have been told that your area news and the National news will not carry the story for my people unless and until CNN carries it. Each day someone has told me they have gone to CNN on Facebook, their website, or called into report our story, since the 12/20/09 State of Emergency was issued.

CNN's "TERRORGASM"

by: Inky99

Tue Dec 29, 2009 at 23:27:34 PST

(11 am. - promoted by ek hornbeck)

I don't even watch CNN, not on purpose, but I often flip by them when I'm channel surfing.  Sometimes I'll even click on them deliberately just to see what kind of b.s. they're peddling.   And I admit I have hated them with a passion for years now, ever since I used to trade e-mails with their news head, and he would actually write me back, and he'd try to convince me that they weren't really that biased, and then he got sacked for not being biased ENOUGH.   I think his name was Jordan Eason or Eason Jordan, I can't remember.   He actually had the temerity to claim that Wolf Blitzer wasn't biased.  Ha!

They jumped the shark a long time ago.

But if there's a term for jumping the shark AGAIN, I think it would apply to CNN these days.   The Second Jumping of the Shark, or perhaps the Jumping of the Whale.

Every time I flip by there, it's pure "TERROR!" and nothing else, 24/7, over and over.

I'm confused.   Some patsy tried to set his balls on fire on an airplane and it's an international crisis?    Wow.   Are people really buying this crap these days?   Haven't they wised up?

I mean, just today they had an Elephant in the Room situation where it was revealed that the father of the "terrorist" talked with the CIA about his son not too long ago.   I mean, he MET with the CIA.

Then, right on schedule, the guy is helped onto an airplane by a well-dressed man in Amsterdam, because he doesn't have a passport and somehow he convinces an international air carrier to let a guy onto an international flight without a passport?   And the guy by some just WHACKY coincidence isn't on the "no fly" list even though we have nuns and thousands of people who have no business being on it -- hell, Ted Kennedy was on it -- and now they're trying to come up with all KINDS of excuses as to why this guy wasn't on the no-fly list .....

But what I always try to look at during times like this is this:

What news stories are NOT being reported right now?

Because this is how they "cover stuff up".   They find another story that's just SOOO fascinating and they have to spend SOOOO much time on that they (gosh!) just don't have time to report other stories.

Anyway, I have a couple of candidates.   Please feel free to add your own.

1.   Official: U.S. intelligence found Iran nuke document was forged

WASHINGTON, Dec 28 (IPS) - U.S. intelligence has concluded that the document published recently by the Times of London, which purportedly describes an Iranian plan to do experiments on what the newspaper described as a "neutron initiator" for an atomic weapon, is a fabrication, according to a former Central Intelligence Agency official.

Oops.  Yeah, we sure wouldn't want the U.S. population to know about this, because next month we might want to ramp up the hatred against Iran again, it might be a timely thing to do, and we sure wouldn't want them remembering this, now, would we?

2.  Treasury Okays Unlimited Slush Fund For Fannie, Freddie

Forget raising the cap to $800 billion for Fannie/Freddie.  They announce (on Christmas eve no less) that the slush fund for picking up toxic mortgage is unlimited:

Treasury uncaps credit line for Fannie, Freddie

The Obama administration pledged on Thursday to back beleaguered mortgage finance giant Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, no matter how big their losses may be in the next three years.

It also jettisoned a demand that the two companies cut the size of their mortgage-related investment portfolios next year, allowing them to provide even more support in the near term for a housing market recovering from its worst slump in decades.

Wow!   Now if the majority of the American people actually knew about both of these, they might be a little angry, and justifiably so.

But you gotta wonder what other pockets are being picked while the "news" channels are on this 24/7 "TERRORGASM".

Dems with guts? Dems who want to use our huge majorities to fight for real change, the kind we need after 8 years of Bush and 30 years and more of living under the iron heel of the Reagan years. Someone pinch me, I think I'm dreaming.

What a week this guy is having! Between holding every contractor accountable and not just ACORN to calling the wingnuts on their lies and YOU LIEs, and then apologizing to the dead of our national health care horror story, and now this! I soooo want this guy to run for a state office (Senate, Gov) and then go BIG in 2016! or sooner!

8 yrs and a day later, protest the Gov who pays the 9/11 heroes

I still have my NYPD/FDNY NY Yankees hat.

I grew up in the state of New York. On 9/11/01 I was in New Jersey, and I could see the smoke from there.

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com     On that tragic day more brave Police Officers and Fire Fighters lost their lives trying to help and save others then I care to count, though each life lost that day should never be forgotten. The war that was launched in Afghanistan to bring justice to al Qaeda and the Taliban, and the false war based on lies in Iraq that prevented the job of catching Osama bin Laden from being brought to justice has claimed thousands of more lives. All of these men and women are heroes. This is true not only of the innocent victims of 9/11, but also of those who ran into those buildings in order to save the lives of their fellow citizens. The brave fallen soldiers of those wars and the emergency workers of NYC were and are true heroes.

And today, the Corporate media, the Republican party and their Right Wing base, in order to remember that day and recall the national unity we Americans felt afterwards, are going to protest that same Government who employed, fed and buried the heroes who gave their lives on 9/11 and the wars that were launched in the days and years after..

    And that is truly pathetic.

Dobbs:     "And there's Van Jones saying, "Well, you know, you said something I don't like, so what are we gonna do? We'll just attack your sponsors." That didn't work out so shiny for him, did it? So, by the way, I gotta say hats off to Glenn Beck for having the guts to stand up to this."

The lesson we should learn from Dr. Tiller's murder is that if someone is demonized enough in the mass media, some crazy person will try to kill them.

Marabout40 has an excellant RecListed diary at Dkos titled Thank You Rachel Maddow & Frank Schaeffer!. Within that diary there is a video featuring Frank Schaeffer which I strongly suggest that you watch. In that video Mr. Schaeffer is quoted as saying :

"Their coded message to their own lunatic fringe is very simple, 'Go for broke'

~snip~

[It is} literally leaving a loaded gun on the table, saying 'The first person who wants to use this, go ahead'"

I do not wish to fear monger, but I genuinely fear for our President, and our Democracy.

WTF Is Going On???

by: Joy B.

Tue Aug 04, 2009 at 20:13:28 PDT

Big Orange has been all over the Birfers and Teabaggers of late, which I've found fairly boring and pointless, but then, I just follow for the news and occasional good analysis. They can bitch endlessly about anything they see as threatening to their cause. Whatever that is at this point.

I have been fairly intrigued with what's happened with Keith O's getting quashed on his Bill-O-Baiting by GE (which owns NBC) so that Bill-O would quit exposing their corporate hijinks in retaliation for getting his itty feewings hurt by Keith. I also found it fascinating yesterday when Keith, just back from vacation, informed Kossacks that Richard Wolffe wouldn't be his live-in 'independent' analyst and occasional show-sitter anymore, given that Wolffe has been exposed as a corporate PR hack. Today, however, MSNBC's management has contradicted Keith by stating they don't mind at all if Wolffe wants to be their live-in 'independent' political analyst even if he's on the payroll of the corporations that are often making the news being analyzed. Hmmm...

  It's official. CNN is FOXlite

On Friday, the Southern Poverty Law Center called on CNN to fire Dobbs for trading in "racist conspiracy theories." And some of Dobbs' staff at CNN have told him and network executives that they are uncomfortable with his persistent focus on the story.

Klein defended Dobbs, saying that the host's treatment of the so-called "birther" movement has been "legitimate."

Does this guy even watch his own network? Or does he just prefer to let Dobbs's xenophobic McCarthyistic mania masquerade as objective journalism?

CNN on sex scandals: They all do it.

CNN

Political sex scandals a nonpartisan affair

"(CNN) -- If there's one thing Democrats and Republicans have in common, it's sex scandals.

No matter which party the philanderer belongs to, the public wants all the juicy details, as evidenced most recently by the public's fascination with South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's Argentine travels.

"That's just prurience," said Sally Quinn, a longtime Washington journalist and columnist. She's married to former Washington Post Executive Editor Ben Bradlee. "Sex sells and everybody's interested in sex, so when there's a sex scandal, it's got everything -- you're talking about sex, you're talking about power, and in a lot of cases, money is involved. You are talking about how the mighty have fallen," she said."

Tortured

by: Turkana

Thu Apr 23, 2009 at 10:05:46 PDT

Via Big Tent Democrat, we get this, from CNN (emphasis mine):

Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that he would "follow the law" as he weighed potential prosecutions of Bush administration officials who authorized controversial harsh interrogation techniques.

Big Tent points out that President Obama has already contradicted this, by stating that CIA interrogators won't be investigated. But I'd also like to remind CNN that even John McCain understands the difference between "harsh interrogation techniques" and torture. So, why doesn't CNN?

Fox News Is No Longer The Number One Cable News Network

by: News Corpse

Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 10:25:55 PDT

Continuing a long pattern of decline, Fox News once again underperforms its competitors. The first quarter of a presidential election year can generally be expected to boost viewership for news networks. For CNN and MSNBC this has been markedly apparent. For Fox News...not so much.

-- The State Department says security on Barack Obama's passport file has been breached, campaign officials tell CNN.

And it's up on the main page of CNN too.

I have to go somewhere, and I'll be back in couple of hours.  My question: WTF does this mean?

It's Time for US to Clamp Down On The Media

I watched Obama give one of the greatest speeches I have ever heard today. In a week from Hell. When we barely escaped the collapse of Wall Street while still not addressing the needs of Main Street. I watched a man stand tall and draw a line in the sand with diplomatic skills unseen in American politics in my lifetime. I watched a man stand by a friend, while making it absolutely clear that even though 'context is everything' some of Wright's statements were completely unacceptable. I watched a man I want to be my President.

Sub-Prime(Time) Meltdown Hits Fox News Where It Hurts

by: News Corpse

Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 14:15:35 PST

Over the past year there has been a broad array of economic and political indicators that have been trending generally downward. In the U.S. jobs having been declining, as have exports. Construction has pulled back and property values have fallen. Wages are not keeping pace with inflation. At the same time, approval ratings for President Bush have cratered and Republican Party registration is down. GOP primary voters are showing up at the polls in significantly lower numbers than Democratic voters.

Not surprisingly, this social climate crisis is also being reflected in the market performance of the Fox News Channel. For 2007, Fox News squeezed out a meager ratings increase of 4%. While that was enough to beat the somnambulent CNN's 2% gain, it was far short of the surging 32% rise enjoyed by MSNBC.
