NO on MANDATE, YES on STATES' RIGHTS
In a colusion to o nce again deny us what we want
In John Nichols' column, "Dem Leaders Scheme to Scrap Health-Reform Conference Committee," Nichols reports there will be no conference committee working to reconcile the two healthcare bills. Progressives had hoped to impact the final legislation in a profound way through this committee.
We have been lied to over and again in our attempts to get a debate and a vote on Medicare for All. Our last hope to negotiate a state waiver to ERISA, which would allow states to pass single-payer healthcare without a court challenge from healthcare corporations, has vanished before our eyes.
This is the final straw.
Call Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid. Tell them you will not support any Democrat in the midterms who votes for a bill which:
does not include the ERISA waiver for states--effective immediately, and
includes a mandate forcing us to buy defective corporate insurance policies
Time is short, and they need to hear from us--TODAY and TOMORROW. The Democratic Caucus meets on Thursday.

Please reread The Declaration of Independence. It states that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights--life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In order to secure these rights:
Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, - That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Whenever a government becomes destructive of these rights (and health care is included in these rights), "it is the right of the People [to rise up] to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government."
We have reached this point. The government has gone too far in corruption, cronyism, and the power of the dollar. We are now living with a government which is enimical to, and destructive of our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
But I digress. There will be more on this later/soon. For now, however, we need to give notice to our Congressional non-representatives that their tenure of serving the corporate rich and harming "We the People" is coming to an end.
If they refuse to give us real Health Care Reform, they are finished. We will work toward the Second American Revolution.
