    a truly endangered resource, indeed.

    One not appreciated enough, most times.

  1. solitude, residing in isolation next to Walden Pond, which is far more scenic now than it was when he resided there.  

    Thoreau had a direct view of the pond from his cabin, afforded by the clearcutting of the surrounding woods prior to his arrival there.  It has a much more pleasant look now, however, the pond view from his cabin is now obstructed.
