Hoyer: House Will Accept Public Option-Free Bill

House Democrats can't always get what they want, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told reporters today. But if they spin it right, he said, they just might find they got what they need.

Faced with a likely public option-free health care reform bill from the Senate, Hoyer said House Democrats will vote to move the reform process forward without government-run insurance included.

Much as his colleagues in the Senate Democratic leadership did last night, Hoyer said the political reality in the Senate means Democrats have to look past things like the public option to the "guts" of the bill itself.

"[Senate Majority Leader Harry] Reid does not have the votes for a public option, obviously," Hoyer said. "In a world of alternatives, you have to take what you can get."

Something about laughing and spitting in the face of Satan?  Wearing a smile of steel?  There was a scene in a WWII movie I can't remember the name of ... in this movie there was a D-Day scene where there was this Frenchman who had a house right on the coast.

As the shells passed right over his head and shells were exploding all around him he was screaming with glee and waving at the oncoming forces because despite everything his homeland was about to be freed.

I do that kind of thing, emotionally.  The worse things are, the happier I get, some little emotional button inside me, because it's change.

...I spent the AM phoning the critters ColShiz doesn't like.  (Good sig line, btw).  I told them to vote yes on Bernie Sanders' "Medicare for ALL" Senate Amendment 2837.

Told them we don't want the swiss cheese loophole laden gift to the InsPharCos.  Ergo, KIll the Bill!

I also told the phone robots that our Congress-critters had totally mastered the art of obfuscation.  "I wonder which side of the Public Option Pelosi will declare herself to be on today!"  For the most part, delete Pelosi, and insert your congress-critter of choice.
